Franz Von Suppe 1819~1895
오스트리아의 작곡가·지휘자. 유고슬라비아의 달마티아 출생.
소년시절에는 플루트를 잘 불었으나 뒤에 빈에서 작곡을 배우고
43세 때 안데아 빈극장 전속이 되어 지휘자·작곡가로 활약하였다.
빈 스타일의 우아한 리듬과 맑은 선율의 그의 극장음악은
당시의 빈 음악계에 새로운 바람을 불러일으켰으며 그만큼 인기도 높았다.
그의 작곡영역은 오페레타·발레음악·교향곡·서곡·가곡 등
다방면에 걸쳐 있으며 대표적인 오페레타에《경기병：Leichte Kavallerie》(1866)
《시인과 농부：Dichter und Baue r》(76) 《보카치오：Boccaccio》(79)
《돈 환：Donna Juanita》(80) 등이 있다.
